Bridging worlds

Even though we live in a time where the internet and accessible international transport have generated a greater awareness of what life looks like on the other side of the Earth, bridging these different worlds and its many disciplines, each with its own paradigms and philosophies, is a highly complex process. Through Education, Research and Service ICEERS aims to develop new directions in the Applied Integrative Ethnobotanical Practice that address the changing needs of society and increase awareness about the importance of protection of the traditional knowledge and botanical resources;

EDUCATION
With our internet platform as central infrastructure to expand our international outreach, our main tools are the production of audiovisual media and multi-media productions, making available a selection of books, scientific articles, and other materials, the organization of conferences and training programs, and management of grassroots activities.

RESEARCH
For the acceptance of the potential and possible risks of these Ethnobotanical tools in contemporary society, scientific studies conducted according to Western standards are needed. Through the organization of conferences, direct outreach to researchers and government instanties, ICEERS aims to bring together ideas, expertise, infrastructures and funds to help make this possible.

SERVICE
In collaboration with professionals of different disciplines across the globe, ICEERS works to setup Service Centers to create the perfect setting for the development of best practice protocols, conduct follow-up studies, training programs for therapists and doctors, and meanwhile service to the international community of people in need, making Applied Integrative Ethnobotanical Therapy available according to the highest professional standards and ethics.

A Solid Infrastructure

At ICEERS, we believe that an organization’s objectives must be just as effective as the strategies it develops for reaching its target audience; therefore, in an effort to maximize our social contributions, we have placed great attention and effort in the infrastructure we work with. We are currently working on the development of this internet platform as our central infrastructure designed to:

  • Reach out to our target groups and expand our international network through grassroots distribution and the use of social networks;

  • Manage events and campaigns online;
  • Advise and help people that are in need of therapy or are related to a person that has decided to do ethnobotanically assisted therapy, or have done therapy with poor psychological support, through an online Help Center.
  • Educate the public at large through a combination of audiovisual media and multimedia experiences;

  • Stimulate educated discussion and investigation of ethnobotanical practice amongst professionals, academics and government agencies as well as the general public;

  • Provide high-quality educational materials such as books, documentaries and presentations;
  • Support fundraising efforts using new strategies such as crowdfunding.
Achievements

Even though ICEERS is a young organization, our efforts and the contributions of our collaborators, most of it on a voluntary basis, have generated achievements that shed light on the future of the acceptance and integration of these ethnobotanicals. Here are a few:

  • May 2010 - collaboration with Manto Wasi, Chile for a conference about the therapeutic use of Ayahuasca, as strategy in the legal defense against them. ICEERS is following this case as part of a documentary on Ayahuasca. More info coming soon here.
  • October 2010 - ICEERS hosts 2nd International Ibogaine Treatment Provider Conference, organized by the Global Ibogaine Therapy Alliance. For more information visit GITA's website.
  • October 2010 - Ibogaine conference at the Catalan Ministry of Heath was the first public conference held in collaboration with a government open to an international public. With a full conference room, and contributions of some of world's experts, this event was a big success. [More info];
  • October 2010 - ICEERS brought together researchers, government instanties and some Ibogaine experts in order to establish collaborations for a European Ibogaine research project. More info coming soon;
