ICEERS | April 4, 2025
ICEERS has dedicated increasing efforts to strengthening alliances with Indigenous organizations and leaders, reaffirming our commitment to building a more just and sustainable world. In line with this course of action, we are pleased to announce the transition of Natalia Rebollo, who, after eight years leading the ICEERS’ legal defense program (Ayahuasca Defense Fund, ADF), will assume a fundamental role in our work of building and nurturing alliances with the wise men and women of ancestral knowledge.
This decision comes in response to the significant increase in requests for technical support and accompaniment in emergency situations, as well as for processes of cultural, territorial and community strengthening of Indigenous peoples. At ICEERS, we recognize the importance of making our knowledge — legal, human rights and scientific, among others — as well as our network and experience, available to our alliances to support decision-making processes in these times of global challenges.
The strength of alliances
With deep gratitude, Natalia Rebollo expresses her enthusiasm for this new stage. “It is a privilege to see the seeds of freedom we have sown in increasingly fertile ground prosper. At the ADF, we understood that legal defense is not just a battle in the courts, but a profound catalyst for weaving together the pluricultural narratives that make up life,” she says.
This new direction reflects the importance of alliances and the creation of spaces for mutual understanding between historically marginalized systems of Indigenous knowledge and global decisions. In the age of alliances, dialogue and collaboration are essential to transform the gap in understanding into a path of respect and joint action.
The continuity of the ADF
The legal defense program (ADF) remains in the hands of Jesús Alonso Olamendi, who will continue to provide the invaluable service that has allowed ICEERS to support hundreds of legal incidents in almost fifty countries. Although some cases are still pending, we will not give up in our efforts to advance towards the freedom of the people involved. In the face of the growing number of complex cases worldwide, this work is more essential than ever. Therefore, with the same firmness that drives our mission, we ask for your continued support for the progress of this important task and that we can continue to guarantee that justice and freedom prevail in these challenging times.
