Maja has a PhD in Medical Anthropology and Global Health and is a member of the Medical Anthropology Research Center (MARC) at Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain. She is currently the research coordinator at ICEERS, where her work focuses on the ritual use of psychoactive plants such as cannabis and ayahuasca, particularly in the context of Global Mental Health and drug policy. She conducts studies on the impacts of prolonged participation in ayahuasca ceremonies in Europe, practices of ancestral medicine in Peru, and explores psychedelic circles led by women, analyzing gender roles and the perspectives they bring.
